GIS-based Data Management, Mapping, Analysis and Presentation
GIS-based technology and database management provides an exploration database that will allow the exploration geologist to screen basins and make in-depth assessments of individual blocks in a rigorous and efficient manner
We specialise in……..
- Integration, evaluation and predictive analysis
- Data integration and formatting issues addressed
- Spatial and temporal queries run across multiple data layers
- Geospatial relationships identified and evaluated
- Data control points from multiple geological datasets used to underpin predictive analysis
- GIS-based digital products, hard copy reports and enclosures
- Data integration and formatting issues addressed
- Spatial and temporal queries run across multiple data layers
- GIS-based exploration database for the exploration geologist
- Updated efficiently as new data becomes available
- Global, regional, basin, block, down to prospect scale screening
- The generation of presentation material:
- Corporate internal meetings
- Quality production, reliable and cost-effective
- Large quantity printing available
- Matt and gloss printing of promotional material and reports
- Laminated brochures, enclosures and posters
Using ESRI’s ARC/VIEWTM and ARC/INFOTM GIS formats, the JMJ Petroleum Group specialises in integrating seismic, well, field, potential field, and other complimentary datasets, to identify and evaluate petroleum systems and play fairway elements (e.g., source rock, reservoir and seal) for basin through to block-scale assessments. This has led to the development of a set of methodologies that are utilised through its I-MAP Product Suite of GIS projects, with ‘I-MAP’ representing an abbreviation for GIS’s core activities (Jacques 2002):
- integration
- Multiple geological datasets such as seismic, well, field and potential field data
- Integrated in an ordered and focused manner
- Management
- Intuitive thematic layers created
- Comprehensive GIS attribution scheme
- Linked database tables
- Structured archiving system containing shapefiles, gridded data and georeferenced images
- Analysis
- Spatial and temporal queries run to identify and evaluate geospatial relationships
- Essential play elements evaluated based on risk and uncertainty
- Presentation
- A diverse range of multiple geological datasets can be presented in any combination
- Creation of dynamic geospatial displays
This area of expertise and experience allows us to undertake detailed and focussed GIS-based play fairway mapping and petroleum systems evaluations using our own in-house database management and tectonostratigraphic mapping system To date, this approach has been applied to the following basins/regions:
- Nam Con Son and Cuu Long Basins of southern Vietnam
- Onshore Thailand Rift Basins
- Song Hong and Phu Khanh Basins of eastern Vietnam
- North Africa (Algeria-Libya) Intracratonic Sag Basins
